“We have been on the verge of a revolution in teacher administrator board relation”
In april 11 1962, 40.000 teacher affiliated with the powerfull labor movement paralyzed the largest system in the nation and in so doing dramatized the determination of teacher throughout the nation to strike out against the great educational system. After that strike, others were to occur with accelerating frequency until eventually nearly every major city would be affected. But it was not until six years later, in february 1968, when half Florida’s public school teacher resigned and walked out of the schools in the nation’s first statewide teacher strike,that the nation became fully aware that a new era of teacher militancy had arrived.
